The WineRack turns an A cup into double Ds filled with your favorite beverage

Take a bottle of wine, a mixed drink or even a fifth of your favorite hard stuff to the movies, concerts, ball games, even PTA meetings. Sporting a rack that will turn heads and serving a beverage that will have guys standing in line for a sip of your secret stash.

I was looking at wine racks at Amazon and ran across this. Pretty awesome

Ex-Apple Exec Jon Rubinstein Takes Over at Palm as CEO. He was already calling the shots, now it's official

It has been clear to most observers that Jon has been calling the shots for quite some time. This just formalizes it. It was very clear Palm's investors had brought Rubinstein in to run the company. - Analyst Michael Gartenberg

It's truly remarkable how one person can turn a company around. Palm has put out mediocre CRAP since the Palm V. (Don't talk to me about Treos. They were always "mediocre, the best out there" but never great.)

But in just two years Ruby turned Palm around and they now have a product that is the biggest competition Apple has. So few people actually create great products, most people do the minimum they need to do.

I think the iPhone is still superior in most ways. And the biggest reason why I hear people are buying Pres is because of Sprint... but regardless, they have a great product and it's going to be fun watching how they progress.

I wonder who will put out the first 21 megapixel camera app on the iPhone, and if they will become filthy rich

Dustin sent me a link to an iPhone app designed to be a better camera. They claimed taking photos was faster and they were better quality. Overall i saw little value in the program. On the site, they had a poll to vote for features:

I particularly enjoyed "Be Able to Save Photos at a Higher Resolution (Larger than the standard 2MP size)". Ummm, so you're going to scale up the 2MP image the iPhone camera takes?

I'm wondering if someone put out an app claiming to take "21 megapixel images! The same as a professional DSLR!" how many people would bite and think they just saved thousands of dollars...

How-To: Stop iPhone going into sleep mode (iPhone SDK)

The iPhone OS will attempt to save battery power by using its automatic sleep timing function. If the system doesn’t detect any ‘touches’ it will dim the screen and eventually turn it off.

Sometimes you don’t want this to occur - if you are creating a game or application that uses the accelerometer for instance. To turn off the timer, you need to set the idleTimerDisabled property to YES on the UIApplication object.

For example:

- (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application {

    application.idleTimerDisabled = YES;
    [window addSubview:[rootViewController view]];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
}

this one was killing me for a while. i need to keep my app awake so i can upload stuff even after the phone is switched "off"

Rajeev Motwani, Google founders’ professor and early investor, dies

Rajeev Motwani, the Stanford professor of computer science known best for advising Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, passed away today unexpectedly. Widely praised for his investing acumen — having backed both Google and PayPal early on — he will be remembered for his genuine passion for teaching and technology.

I took a class with Motwani when I was at Stanford. I remember reminiscing about the Stanford CS program a few years after graduating, and commenting that Motwani was one of the best profs I had...
